Business owners just simply do not have every skill required to run every part of their business. One thing small business owners are particularly good at is filling the gaps in their skill and expertise with specialists that do.

The problem is that sometimes we don't stop long enough to recognise that we need help. We struggle on.

As small business owners ourselves, we understand the many trials and tribulations involved in the day-to-day running and overall survival of the business. We also understand what it’s like to put in long hours, day after day, and often seem to be getting nowhere.

Back To Basics Business Solutions (B2B) was founded in recognition of the need for high quality, affordable strategic expertise to be more readily available to all businesses (big and small) who wish to improve their business and personal performance and grow their business to achieve financial success and independence.

B2B delivers our support based on the concept that whatever the size of the firm, although the scale and size may be different, the marketing is the same, the business needs are the same, and the strategies used to improve the business are the same.

We provide business strategies tailor-made to meet the needs of individual businesses with specific goals and specific target markets. We are able to offer a one-stop shop for all your business needs through one source, allowing us to create Business Action Plans tailor-made for your specific needs, as well as to help you implement them.

With the many time constraints and so many areas of your business to manage and operate, it's sometimes easy to feel overwhelmed by it all.

With this in mind, Back to Basic Small Business Solutions Training Solutions is packaged specifically for small business owners and the staff, and we have developed a number of Training Kits to suit your specific needs. For example:

  • Our Webinars vary from 30 minutes to 1 hour, and cover every aspect of small business. We have over 50 various Webinars which, we believe, address the main areas where people are seeking more information and knowledge … and if you feel we have missed an area that you are interested in, please tell us, and we will develop it.
  • We run Short Courses on a range of subjects and issues that are important to the small business owner and their staff, and these are delivered by either distance learning or a series of ongoing, weekly Webinars to suit the time constraints of most businesses … (Statement of Attainment issued on completion)
  • Nationally Accredited Training – full courses offering everything from Certificate IV in Business Management through to Advanced Diplomas in Business and Management. .. (National Qualification issued on completion)

Research has proven that small businesses who access mentors have a much higher success rate than those businesses who choose to “go it alone”.

Mentoring can deliver significant economic benefits from just a small commitment of time and resources. Building a relationship with a mentor can have a positive effect on your business, whether you are just starting up or are already established.

Many small businesses look for mentors who have expertise in functions such as finance, sales and marketing, public relations, and strategy and planning.

B2BBS are specialist Mentors and we realise the different needs of business, and also what suits one business owner, may not necessarily suit another.

Mentoring in business refers to a relationship between an experienced businessperson (the mentor) and a business owner or employee (the mentee). It can be used at all stages in the business life-cycle and offers benefits to both mentors and mentees.

As a business owner, you may choose to have a mentor for yourself or for your staff. Through mentoring you can develop your business skills, which can help you achieve success earlier than you may have on your own.

Through the Inner Circle Mentoring we have developed a number of different Mentoring programs to suit even the most time-strapped employer or employee:

One-on-One Mentoring

•Micro Mentoring (which comprises 4 – 5 participants only, with similar issues)

•Mentoring by Design – where we tailor the mentoring to suit your specific needs in both time and situation

•Brainstorming and Mind Mapping are similar to the Micro Mentoring program in that we have no more than 4 – 5 participants  … this program is proving particularly powerful for entrepreneurs wishing to share their ideas to peers.

Writing Tenders, we believe, is a niche area, and therefore requires a specialist to write it.

Amongst other things, one of the “tricks” to developing a solid tender, is to identify the possible risks associated within the tender – and address these risks in your application.

Showing that you understand the risks, and have a Risk Management process prepared, instils confidence in the purchaser, when you show that you:

  • Have identified and addressed the possible risks, and
  • Have developed policies and procedures that show you understand and can manage risks
  • Have you made it clear to the purchaser why they should choose you over the other applicants?
  • Have you prepared an Executive Summary that clearly indicates you should be looked at as a shortlist candidate?
  • Have you explained your pricing structure and provide the purchaser with a Costing or Expenses forecast?
  • Have you provided the purchaser with your track record or testimonials from other clients?

If you are working full time in the business, it can be hard to take a step back and put time aside for the research, analysis and plain hard work involved in solid Tender Preparation. However, applying for – and winning – tenders, is a crucial aspect of your growth.

We can offer you a pre-tender score service, and also review your failed tenders (if any) and from this we can identify and implement the changes that need to be made in order to improve your competitive advantage.

Planning is possibly the most commonly used word in the business vernacular.

If you were to do a search on “Planning” on Google, you will find literally, hundreds of pages on the topic, offering a multitude of templates, guides, tool kits, blogs, videos, hints and tips.

The subject is exhaustive and seemingly limitless.

So what can we say about Planning? A LOT

Planning is essential to the success of any business, and the templates, guides and tool kits, etc., are, undoubtedly helpful and useful. However, unless you have the time, knowledge and skills to carry out not only your Planning, but also the in-depth analysis required, your final plan could end up being a superficial document that misses the mark entirely.

We believe that hiring a consultant to carry out your current and future planning should not take the place of your own understanding of the business, and that’s why we don’t do it for you, but, rather, we do it with you.

We work with you every step of the way, including running no-cost Webinars on every step of your planning procedures, so, at the end of the day, you have the knowledge and the ownership of the final plan.

Where we excel, and where we do the ‘hard yards” is in the extensive analysis of each and every step of the plan, provide you with the results of this research, and then together, we develop YOUR PLAN.

One definition of Feasible is: “To determine if something is capable of being done, effected, or accomplished”

You may have a totally new idea and need to assess the feasibility of it, or you may have been running your business for years; the Feasibility and assessment of your idea or your current business performance is essential for deliberate and controlled growth.

The Feasibility assessment activity contains a number of crucial and essential elements and includes:

•Market feasibility analysis

•Competitor analysis, and

•Financial feasibility analysis

It’s important to look critically and impartially at your business as a whole when determining whether or not it’s worth investing more of your time and your money; “To determine if something is capable of being done, effected, or accomplished”

Our strategic studies range from support to strategic goal development through feasibility studies to market research and specific focussed analytical studies.

Our team has a proven track record of performance in strategic analysis feasibility studies, and we specialise in supporting Small and Medium businesses.

Promotion is one of the four elements of the Marketing Mix

And the FIVE elements of the Promotional Mix are:

1.Personal Selling,

2.Advertising,

3.Sales Promotion,

4.Direct Marketing, and

5.Publicity

When marketing their products or services, every business needs to create a successful mix of:

•the right product

•sold at the right price

•in the right place

•using the most suitable promotion.

Most sales promotions are carried out by people who are not sales promotion specialists. However, both of our Directors, Peter Athey and Dennis Chiron have spent many years in Marketing and are both specialists in Promotion Marketing.

In fact, Dennis ran an advertising agency in Sydney for a number of years, Prime-Ads Pty Ltd, and as well as having many small businesses clients, Prime-Ads also attracted a number of the largest organisations in Australia as clients.

Marketing any new product is a specialist field, and the hard work of developing a new product or service to get it to the marketplace has been done. But, that’s really when the hard work just begins…. And this is where we come in.

Marketing is all about Positioning – particularly with a new product or service – and our role is to develop the New Product Plan to place you in the very best position possible.

Do you know WHO your customer REALLY is?

-Who is the decision maker?

-Who is your target customer?

Sales Plan: The very first step is defining your market and identifying the EXACT Target Market for your new product is crucial. We do this through a process of research and identification of:

•Geographics

•Demographics

•Psychographics, and

•Operational Variables

Typically, the Sales Plan needs to basic but precise, and it should be a simple document, for your eyes only, that will step you through a comprehensive sales strategy to ensure that you get the very best results. After all, sometimes, you only get one chance when you are introducing a new product into the market; so it is important to ensure the Sales Plan spells out the step-by-step process to assist you in achieving maximum impact.

Market Research conducted by B2B has shown that many organisations in both the private and public sectors still believe that they do not have the time or the inclination to be concerned about Marketing; Customer Service; Customer Satisfaction; Future Planning and Improvement Strategies; Bottom Line; USP; etc., and whilst this  may be true for some, however, the evidence is that all businesses eventually have to be concerned about ongoing business improvement in order to achieve their long-term goals.

We provide business strategies tailor-made to meet the needs of individual businesses with specific goals and specific target markets. We are able to offer a one-stop shop for all your business needs through one source, allowing us to create Business Action Plans tailor-made for your specific needs, as well as to help you implement them.

Applying rigorous energy, experience, and resourcefulness to every that project we accept, B2B is dedicated to your success.

The yardstick for our success is your guaranteed growth and overall success.

The motto we live by is: “A company is only as good as its people, their ability to deliver, and the promises they keep.”
